Tokyo: Internet portal Yahoo Japan is offering audio streaming that lets users listen to full songs for free to attract customers to its music sites, intensifying competition in the second largest music market of the world. Apple’s iTunes launched earlier this month and sold a million songs in the first four days. Visitor’s to Yahoo’s Internet Music Sound Station can choose from 100,000 titles and listen to the entire song for free, while existing services only allow customers to listen to song samples of about 30 seconds. The free music is preceded by advertising tie-ins. – DPA Last update on: 23-8-2005
