Family told about death after 45 days

DUBAI
The body of an African man, who was killed in a road accident last month, was kept at the General Department of Forensic Science for 45 days before his family was informed about his death, his sister has said.
Khaleej Times says Khaled Mohammed had rented a car from Abu Dhabi and arrived in Dubai on January 2. He was run over and killed by a car driven by an Arab while he was trying to cross a road on the same day.
Khaled died on the spot and his body was taken to the department. Police said since they could not find any ID on the deceased, they took his fingerprints and wrote to various police stations for investigation. After 45 days, the Naif police station called two of his friends when their numbers were found in his mobile handset. They recognised the body and called the African’s sister, Aysha, who arrived in the UAE to receive the body.
