Healthcare a priority; PM calls for congenial working environment

Full support will be provided to reinforce and further develop health care in the country, the Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, affirmed yesterday.
Speaking during his visit to the Ministry of Health, the Premier stressed that the appointment of a Bahraini woman to shoulder the responsibilities of an important ministry such as this reflected Bahraini women’s potential and capabilities.
He said that all efforts will be exerted to assist and support the activities required to improve and provide the best medical services possible for the people.
He also affirmed the need to set up a congenial working environment to encourage the medical and nursing cadre which in turn will help maintain the good standards and Bahrain’s high reputation in the health sector. Shaikh Khalifa said that the Government is moving towards achieving increased development in the health sectors for the benefit of the people, and called for unified efforts by all those working in the ministry in order to sustain the Kingdom’s good reputation in the medical sector.
Expansion and development of the private medical practice is greatly welcomed and more specialised hospitals are encouraged to open, especially branches of international health centres, the Premier highlighted, adding that foreign investment in the field would be encouraged.
Shaikh Khalifa also hailed the great standards of Bahraini doctors enjoy, and affirmed continued support to improve the working condition and doing everything possible to translate the Government’s aspirations into a reality. The health care services, the Premier stressed, is the core for human development in which the Kingdom has made advanced strides at the regional and international levels.
The Minister of Health, Dr Nada Abbas Haffadh, on behalf of herself and the ministry staff, extended thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister for his kind gesture and his continued support to the health sector. She said that the Premier’s visit reflects his care and keenness to improve further the sector as part of the Kingdom’s development strategy in all areas under the wise leadership of His Majesty the King, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Premier was accompanied by the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Abdullah Saif, the head of the Prime Minister’s office, Ali Al Arrayed, the Secretary-General of Cabinet Affairs, Dr Yasser Al Nasser, and the head of Information and Follow-up at the Prime Minister’s Court, Ibrahim Al Dossary.
